Remembering Professor Gary Tiedemann
Professor R. G. (“Gary”) Tiedemann, who has for several years been battling cancer, has passed away, and we extend our profound condolences to his family.
Gary’s contributions to the field of Sino-Christian and Sino-Mission studies were transformative and formative for many who later emerged in our discipline, and he shall be remembered for such works as the editor and compiler of the Reference Guide to Christian Missionary Societies in China: From the Sixteenth to the Twentieth Century (Armonk, N.Y.: M.E. Sharpe, 2009), and as the editor of the Handbook of Christianity in China, Vol. 2, 1800 to the Present (Leiden: Brill, 2010).
The CCSG is grateful for Professor Tiedemann’s life as a distinguished scholar and friend to many.
